Babies Everywhere!

Oh my, how the stars must be aligned this year! I was invited to three separate baby showers in one weekend alone this summer! While surfing the net for some creative, but cute, baby gifts, I came across these little gems for the parents-to-be!

I love this idea for baby photographs. Meet Mila - her mother documents her dreams, or what she thinks are her dreams. These pictures look so incredibly fun and if I could do Inception like things, I would want to be in those dreams!

Window Shopping

Partaking in some harmless window shopping is like looking at the bacon, smelling the bacon, but not exactly eating the bacon. Which is why I love this blog - Even Cleveland. What better way to indulge in your love for clothes then to pick out a great outfit for an imaginary day. No harm, no foul. Check out some of my favorite selections -

Loose Leaf Clothing
Remember three-hole punch Jim from The Office?

This line of apparel reminds me of that episode. These items, however, can be worn outside of Halloween.

Loose Leaf Clothing is a a collaborative project from Brooklyn based artists Beka Goedde and Rachel Ostrow. Interested in purchasing a shirt? You can at the Artware website.
I am also contemplating getting rid of Drop caps at the beginning of posts, any feedback?
Anchor

Safety first - a lesson you learn throughout life. It might be because I watch more news now that I am older, or it might be that people are getting smarter so crimes are easier to commit, but I feel as if crime is everywhere. The next logical step is finding a way to better report and prevent it. Laura Berglund, a graphic designer from Kansas City, is the genius behind Anchor. Anchor is an iphone app that allows people to become their own security force. The app makes reporting crimes, contacting security, etc. easier then it currently is.

Students receive a wallet sized booklet with vital information about campus and the area.

Crime tags would alert students to serious risks in the actual environment.

Finally, the Anchor website would provide more realtime information about campus safety.

Pixelated

Sometimes, being a little vague is okay.

The following were created with the Lego app for iPhone. It’s like riding a time machine back to the 80s. I love it even more because the app is free!

Beauty and Braun

Doing good is always easy when it involves great photography, an awesome subject, and yummy coffee. I was at one of my favorite Dallas coffee shops, Urban Dog Coffee, this week when some stunning photographs caught my eye. Upon further investigation I noticed they were all by one man, Brian Braun. The subject of most of his pieces at Urban Dog Coffee, and my favorite part, is the great city of Dallas. Check out some of his stuff below. If you like it, 35% of all sales of the prints in Urban Dog Coffee will benefit Sower of Seeds International. In a nutshell, Sower of Seeds does compassion outreach to India with a focus on social development, something near and dear to my heart.
Bonus: Brian has an iPhone app so you can enjoy and share his work right off your phone.

Hodge Podge

I didn’t know how to better categorize these things, except that they make me smile. On a side note: I know I am great slacking on updates here, but better posts are coming soon!

Finally, Chairless, by Vitra. I can think of many moments when this handy little contraption would have been useful.

Typography of India

English is an amazing language that can change it’s appearance so frequently. There are script fonts, block fonts, fun fonts, serious fonts. I don’t think many other languages can really claim to be so font friendly as English. For example, Hindi. I went to India a few years ago and looking at all the signage in the bazaars, there isn’t much variation on how you can scribe Hindi. However, photographer Scott Witt, has taken a great series of photos showing some of the variety of typography in India. If you happen to check out his website, an additional bonus are his photos taken of the festival of Holi.
